she's baaaaaaack

So what with it being a brand new year and all, Jay and I were talking about what we want for ourselves and our family in the coming year.

And as we reveled in the newness of the new year with all its shiny goodness, I decided to share a "resolution" with my husband:

"I resolve to never again buy chicken off the back of a truck."

I bet you're staring at your screen in the same odd way that he stared back at me.

This was his reply: "Way to go, honey. Why reach for the upper shelf when there's plenty within reach on the lower one?"

Exactly!

I just decided that for once in my life I'd resolve to do something totally and completely attainable. To set myself up for success. Rather than the usual "resolutions" that leave you feeling like a total failure by mid-February, you know, like getting out of debt, running a marathon, dropping the extra weight and world peace, all equally delusional likely in my estimation, I have made one that, not to brag, is looking to be a complete success. Besides, that chicken isn't good anyway.

This train of thought has got me thinking. If I play my cards right, this could be a wildly successful year! I get to keep a resolution (which raises my self-esteem), save my family money (which makes me a good steward), and prevent possible food-poisoning and subsequent hospitalization (which in some circles makes me a hero and a rock star). It's a win-win situation, really.

Here's to reaching for the lower shelf! Or something like that. Happy 2010, y'all! Cheers!

Yeaaaaaa You are Back! What exactly do you mean by buying chicken off the back of a truck? I know this should not be confusing to me, but I seriously do not understand what you mean....

I LOVE it!!!!!! Note to self - ask where the chicken came from before I eat at the Victory house!

Sam, you mean KY doesn't have those people who drive around with frozen meat for sale? You don't know what you're missing... or maybe you do. :o)

Ok...and I'm really glad I haven't eaten at your house in a really long time, for fear that it was chicken off the truck. :)

But now that I know there will be no more of that...I'll have to make a visit. :) (but just to be safe, I'll pick up some KFC) =)
